Project Description: 

 

The Milford House, Portland House and Jupiter Court redevelopment in Middlesbrough for the Thirteen Housing Group promotes inclusive, low-energy living and supports Thirteen’s wider vision of building vibrant, connected communities across the Tees Valley.

​

The scheme transforms the site of three obsolete tower blocks into 105 high-quality affordable homes. The project delivers two sustainable neighbourhoods offering a mix of apartments, bungalows, and family houses, all meeting or exceeding national space and accessibility standards.

Set within tree-lined streets and community gardens, the new homes are arranged around a perimeter-block layout to enhance safety and sociability. A distinctive crescent feature marks the gateway to the site, while SuDS landscaping and a new Toucan crossing improve environmental and pedestrian connectivity.

Using a brick-and-pitched-roof aesthetic inspired by Middlesbrough’s domestic character, the design brings a fresh, contemporary feel to the area.
